Troubleshooting and FAQ

Quick answers to the things people ask most.

Photos only appear once their thumbnail is built. If a thumbnail never got generated, the photo is hidden and your library count can look lower than a shoot's count. Go to Settings > Locations and use Generate missing thumbnails. If a photo's file was deleted from disk after import, you can clear those dead entries from the same place; nothing on disk is removed.

Decoding true RAW sensor data is slow, so Selekt does not do it on import. Choose Process RAW in the preview once to decode the file; after that the switch is live and R toggles it. See JPG and RAW.

No, not for the core app. Import, culling, tagging, shoots, and export all work offline. You only sign in for AI analysis, smart crop, cloud sync, and client galleries. See Your account and plans.

In your Photos library location, which defaults to ~/Pictures/Selekt. Each shoot is laid out as {library}/{YYYY}/{YYYY-MM-DD_ShootName}/ with RAW/, Developed/, Social/, and Selects/ subfolders. You can move the library in Settings > Locations.

AI features need a signed-in account with Enable cloud features on (Settings > Selekt Cloud), and they draw on your monthly quota. Check your usage on the account page. If you are out of quota, it resets next month, or you can top up on Pro.

Cancelling an import keeps every photo already copied and just stops the rest, so you can safely re-run it. With Skip duplicate photos on, photos already imported are not copied again.

Proofing galleries are PIN-protected by default. Make sure your client has the PIN as well as the link. Selekt only shows the PIN once at creation, so if it was lost, revoke the link and create a new one. See Client proofing galleries.
